A little background...

When I was planning to go to Scotland to meet my girlfriend, some friends on Knittychat decided to gamble on when the relationship would be consumated. The prize would be a hank of sock weight yarn for the person who most closely predicted (grats DK), and a consolation hank went to this very wonderful lady.

Amelia's birthday was a resounding success. Here are pictures.

For those who don't know, her birthday was themed "Say Goodbye to the 20's", though I'd never divulge her new age. On an unrelated note, I'll be turning 30 a week from Sunday, which makes me precisely two weeks younger than Amelia.

I wonder if I do anything besides knit...

This year I've been busy!

Last Monday I got in line at the supermarket at the same time as someone else and I didn't yield (-8 points). In September I set drummergirl_23's puppy on fire (-66 points). Last week I gave cvimes a kidney (1000 points). Last month I broke stix_vane's X-Box (-12 points). In April I ruled Iran as a kind and benevolent dictator (700 points).

Overall, I've been nice (1614 points). For Christmas I deserve an XBox 360!

I've started working on the sweater that I was making for my mom about 1 1/2 years back. It's almost done... I'll try to get a pic up soon..

This is my first post in an attempt to post every day this month.

I've been working nights at Harry and David again. They made me a facilitator this year, which means that I'm the one with the book. I run the class. It's all me baby... The down side is, since it's my baby, I can't give it back when I'm done... if things are bad, they're mine... if things are good, they're mine too.

Anyway... Because I work my day job too, I have to have another facilitator start my class, and I pick up about an hour into it. My students say I'm the good one.

The class goes until midnight, which means I don't get out until about 12:30am, then I get up at 7:00 to go to work at 7:30am. Tons of fun!

I don't wanna blow my whole wad on this one post, though... more to come tomorrow.

So I'm waiting in line for the Nintendo Wii. It's weird because the first tent is 9 people who are really nice, running their generator all night so people can play XB 360, and GC games. I assume they're a group of friends intent on reselling through EBay.

After them is a pair of tents with some young college kids/old high schoolers who keep pretty much to themselves. They played some Zelda last night while the generator was on. They seem like they're here to get the gaming system for its own worth to them, but who knows.

Next comes two tents of young high school kids. First off, the four of them never stop speaking loudly about nothing. They're nice kids, they just don't make sleeping easy.

Then is me! I'm perfect.

After me are the people who didn't bring tents. The two college kids who showed up, and immediately went to sleep. The guy who offered me some DS and GBA games last night when I asked Chip to stock me up next time he comes by. And then mystery people around the corner.

We're told that there will be extension cords starting today. The official number of Wii consoles as of yesterday was 24, and there are 26 people in line now. There will be a more accurate number after today's staff meeting, but It's going to be a little weird when people start showing up who we know aren't making the cut.

Well, I'm going to get under the sleeping bag again, because it's colder than I thought it would be.

Drunk Dialing Rules

Only drunk dial when you are drunk. Everything else is false advertisement.
It is okay to call someone 27 times in one night. If you don't remember it, it didn't happen.
If you are going to drunk dial a family member, say something nice. Ex. "Mom, I'm in McDonald's and they're playing our song. I love you."
Dirty talk while drunk dialing is always preferred. Who doesn't want to hear your best raspy, phone sex voice at 3 in the A.M. asking to bend them over something??
Voicemails are always better. This way your friend can let their friends have fun at your expense for days, even weeks to come.
Drunk texting is alright… if you are prepared to read what you wrote the next day when you are sober.
It is definitely a good idea to call all of your exes and remind them that you were the best lover they've ever had and everything they know, they learned from you. This way you can sleep well at night.
You can also call this same ex and let him/her know, that you know that he/she still loves you. Then explain to him/her that "I would still love me too!"
If you are a frequent dialer, never get mad if someone dials you. Be happy they thought of you in this special time.
It is always a good idea to sing on someone's answering machine or voicemail. Especially a show tune.
Drunk dialing should be fun and light hearted or dirty and sex crazed… never angry.
Most likely you will never drunk dial your best friends. They are usually the ones taking your phone away and reminding you that "you have a problem".
If you deleted a number sober, it was probably for a good reason. Do not try to retrieve this number. Nothing good can come from it.
Always call someone you know. Finding random numbers in phone books is bad and usually leads to angry dialing.
If your cell phone dies, remember everything happens for a reason. Never borrow a friend's phone to do your dialing.
Drunk dialing to a foreign country is usually too costly to be a good idea. But, if you really feel like if you don't call this person you'll just die, break rule 15 and use a friend's phone.
Drunk dialing may lead to drunk muffin stuffing… be prepared.
When dialing remember that "hanging out" at 3 in the a.m. usually doesn't involve cards it's probably going to be more like cheap lube and handcuffs. So be prepared when you really do want to play X-box when your drunk… "you want me to do what with your box? Play with it?"
Don't drunk dial in the pool, tub, or rainstorm. It only ends up with you blow drying your phone when your far too drunk to be using electronics and you won't be able to drunk dial anymore that night.
Never, I repeat, never drunk dial your boss, preacher, grandpa, or friend's parents. If you are that hard up to call someone, there is an 800 number on Budweiser boxes.

Scientists today have created a Ring of Invisibility to microwaves. If the science scales properly, all you'd have to do is wear one of these rings, then the one for visible light, then the one for heat, and you'd be mostly invisible, so long as nobody looks at you from an oblique angle.
